THE MIRACLE OF CHRISTMAS from bigzonline.com
November 26, 2024

The angel of the Lord came to Virgin Mary and told her she in the favor of the Lord and that she had been chosen to have God’s son, and she was to call him Jesus.  Just imagen how trilled Mary was.

However, how was she going to explain to her fiancée Joseph that she was pregnant with the son of God.  At this time in history, it was customary for an unfaithful bride to be, to be stoned to death.  How would her family react to finding out that she was pregnant?
What would the Jewish leaders deal with the situation?  Would they “call off” the marriage and have her stoned to death.  Why would they believe that this “virgin” had not committed adultery.  How could Mary live in Nazareth and longer?

Joseph was distraught with Mary until the angel to the Lord, Gabriel, came to him and explained to him the Mary was to be the virgin mother of the promised Messiah.  You, Jacob, are to be the earthly father of the Messiah and you are to call him Jesus, for he will save his people from their sins.

Joseph was a descendant of David, and as promised, God was sending the Messiah as his son.  Mary and Joseph were to be the Messiah’s earthly parents.   When Joseph woke up, he took Mary as his wife.  He did not sexual relations with her until her son was born, therefore, fulfill that the Messiah would be born of a virgin.

As Mary was about to give birth, King Herod decreed that all citizens had to register in their “hometown”.   Mary and Joseph lived in Nazareth, but Joseph’s birth registration was Bethlehem.   So, Joseph put his pageant wife Mary and made the long trip to Bethlehem.  Because of the registration of citizenship, Bethlehem was very busy, and lodging could not be found.  Joseph pleaded with innkeepers for a place for his wife to give birth to their child.  Finally, an innkeeper said I have no room in the inn, but you could use a stable out back.  Mary was in labor, and he had no other options.  Soon after arriving in the stable, Joseph prepared a manger just before baby Jesus was born.  God had humbled himself to have his son born in a stable and laid in a manger.

Angels appeared to shepherds feed their flocks announcing the birth of the Messiah in Bethlehem.  The shepherds immediately went to Bethlehem to worship Baby Jesus.

A short time later, wise men from the eastern lands arrived in Jerusalem asking King Herod, “Where is the newborn King of the Jews?  They were following a star that led them to Bethlehem.  They found Mary and Jesus and bowed down and worshiped him.  They give them gifts of gold, frankincense, and myrrh.
